REPORT ON: THE VISIT TO THE GALLERY

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this report is to present the gallery of a famous photographer’s work. The photographs, many of which have never been exhibited, reveal the social and political content in which they were taken, published, experienced and interpreted. The lecturer explained the meaning of her black and white photos, which I find interesting and also creative. The gallery is located in Ljubljana and is available for viewing.

LIFE AND BEGINNINGS

She started taking photos at the age of 34, when she moved to Milan and started collaborating with various newspaper journalists. Letizia is known for her photos without color. Besides nature she took photos of poverty, mafia and politicians. In addiction she created interesting photos with activist passion about bloody wars of the Sicilian Mafia. She is very known for taking photos at the crime scenes and publishing them after. Because of that she over time got a body guard who followed her every step. Outside of photography, her other ventures included a women’s magazine, a publishing house and a photography school.

THE GALLERY

The Jakopič gallery is one of the central spaces of the Museum and Galleries in Ljubljana. The space is intended for wider social understanding of photography. It is aimed as one of most creative, inspirational, artistic corner. The program allows individuals to come face the missions of photography. It introduces the spreading the message that the photographers put into practice.

MOST INTERESTING PICTURE

Her most famous photo is a red blossom in a glass with gray background that belongs in the nature category. The reason she took the photo was she found it very calming and joyful as well. This is the only photo that presents visual emotion and is different from others. This painting is the most memorable moment of the excursion.

CONCLUSION

I find her photos extremely meaningful and the black effect emphasizes things that unfortunately exist in the real world. What I like about her she is unique and has shown a different perspective of photography. Mrs. Battaglia deserves to be known all over the world and has inspired me to look outside the box. The visit was instructive and the explanation was told by a young instructor who was extremely patient with us. To sum up I really enjoyed the program and I am looking forward to explore more of her deep meaning of photos.
